Atomization of metal powders methods

Molten metal atomizing or spraying of melts is known as one of the main methods to produce different types of metals and alloys powder, which has long been used by manufacturers in industrial scale. In attached paper, different methods of powder atomization was investigated by Dr. John J. Dunkley including gas atomization processes, water atomization, plasma atomization, electrode induction gas atomization (EIGA), vacuum inert gas atomization (VIGA), rotating electrode process with plasma and centrifugal atomization which all of them can produce metal powders as initial materials for modern manufacturing technologies such as metal injection molding (MIM), 3D printing and hot isostatic pressing (HIP).
